January-International Inhouse Activity
Project-Healing Harmonies
In order to gain a profound knowledge and understand the healing effects of music and to make the students acquainted with the culture and tradition of four different countries (India, Nepal, Poland and U.S.A) an array of activities was conducted for the students of classes VI, VII and VIII during the month of January. We had Sunpakuwa Sec. School from Nepal as our partner school for this ISA project titled “Healing Harmonies”.
Under this project students of class VI prepared instructional videos of traditional dances. Students of class VIII also made dance videos raising social issues, these video presentations were exchanged with the partner school. The aim of the activity was to make the students learn about various types of traditional musical instruments and dance forms of different countries. With the aim to learn ways to ease stress and tension, students of class VII did research work on the topic 'Healing effects of dance, music and yoga”. They presented the collected information through mind maps, which were also shared with the students of partner school.
All the students enthusiastically performed the activities. They were able to develop imaginative, creative, kinaesthetic and collaborative skill. This project was a resourceful learning experience for the students of both the countries which has enabled them to appreciate the diverse and unique culture of different countries.
